This black bear was confiscated by Parks and Wildlife officials at a taxidermist office. The bear was not properly tagged and the owner did not have the information needed. Lt. Trey Shewmake of the Texas Parks and Wildlife office in Rusk said it is illegal to hunt for bears in Texas. The most popular bear in East Texas is the Louisiana Black Bear and is found in East Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi. It weighs 120-400 pounds and is 4.5-6.5 feet long and lives up to 30 years.
