The Rusk Junior High choir earned its first division trophy in five years on May 13 at the 41st Annual FunFest at Sandy Lake Amusement Park. This is the largest spring music festival in the U.S. with more than 1,600 groups including 63,000 students in bands, choirs and orchestras, participating in the three-week festival in April and May from a multi-state region. This year, 50 Rusk students performed in the pop music competition. Rusk's winning performance was a medley of tunes and dance moves from the musical, "Grease." The performance was directed and choreographed by David Weaver. In front from left are Nicole Phifer; seated, Sarah Summers, Cavazzie Crist, Matthew Hawes, Erin Beckworth; and in back, Haley McNair and Cory Evans.
