Have you ever seen a quilt with over 60,000 pieces? The Alto Thursday Study Club got an opportunity to do just that when Dr. Deborah Burkett of the Cherokee County Historical Commission presented a program on quilts recently. The squares and triangles quilt actually has 62,968 pieces and was made by Miyako Suwa from Osaka, Japan. From left are Judy Landrum, Tommie Worley, Sybleen Minton, Dr. Burkett, Alma Wallace, Brenda Griffin, Hallene Thompson, Joane Hunter, Francis Henley, Marjorie Warner, Sonny Terrell and Janie Daniels.
