Terrell Masonic Lodge No. 83 of Alto presented the Community Builder Award to the Alto Volunteer Fire Department. at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20. This award can be presented once a year to an individual or a group who have made an outstanding contribution to the life of a community, city or town. Worshipful Master Jerry Flowers and lodge secretary Greg Megill attended on behalf of the lodge. Nine firemen received the award. Alto firemen worked long hours, well into exhaustion, in a successful attempt to keep the flames from claiming human life or loss of homes during the wildfires of 2011.
