Roland Adams of Jacksonville, left, retired cattleman turned timber grower, received the Forest Stewardship award from the Texas A&M Forest Service, presented by Jason Ellis, district forester. The stewardship program stresses written objectives and recommendations tailored to be site specific in an effort to improve landowner conservation efforts. Mr. Adams is the chairman of the board of directors of the Cherokee County Soil & Water Conservation District.
