Expanding Nichols

The official groundbreaking of a $4.4 million expansion of Nichols Intermediate School in Jacksonville was held last Thursday. Some 15,400 square feet of classrooms and a band hall will be completed within the next eight months. On hand to scoop with ceremonial shovels were (from left) JISD Board president Todd Travis, Trustee Dean Dublin, John Alexander, Trustee Randy McCown, Assistant Principal Linda Guinn, JISD Superintendent Dr. Joe Wardell, Trustee Al Chavira, Assistant Superintendant Judy Terry, Principal Lisa Daily and Maintenance Director Olen Morton. A similar groundbreaking was held on July 8 for the new West Side Elementary campus on College Avenue.
