The early days of Texas were relived in Rusk March 17. The Outlaws Gun Fighting group from Hallsville, corn liquor, a flamboyant dance hall girl, quilt raffle, cloggers and line dancers were all part of the spectacle. Amid the gunshots, one could hear musical refrains of "God Bless Texas." Amy Derrington, director of the Rusk Library and the Friends Group, along with the Cherokee County Historical Commission, sponsored the fun.
