k Cherokee County citizens gathered at Sweet Union Baptist Church Feb. 27 to celebrate Black History Month. Guess speaker, Dr. Richard Hackney, right, spoke of the importance of history ..."Everyday is a day to make history... we have an obligation to share our history with each other..." At the conclusion Pastor Horace L. Williams, left, presented Dr. Hackney with a 2011 Black History Award. Dinner was served prior to the service. The church's 124th birthday is in March.
