Eagles in the hunt after wins over Jacks, Devils
      With two wins this past week and the right outcomes in two games involving Jasper, the Rusk Eagles found themselves in the midst of a fight for third in boys District 18-3A basketball. The Bulldogs barely got out of their game last Tuesday with Carthage, winning 66-63 in overtime. Jasper then lost to second place Hudson last Friday night.

Rusk slates baseball/softball registration
      Rusk Baseball/Softball Association will have sign-ups for baseball, softball and t-ball Feb. 13, 20 and 27 at the Rusk High School gym from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Youths ages 3 - 15 years are eligible to participate. Fees are $60 for the first child in a family and $50 for each additional child.

      The Rusk Eagles Youth Football and Cheer Association will hold sign-ups for football and cheerleading this Saturday, C Pharmacy Feb. 6 at the Rusk High School gym from 8 a.m.-3 p.m.

Superbowl Scramble Feb. 6
      The 16th annual Superbowl Scramble will be held Feb. 6 at Birmingham Forest Golf Club in Rusk starting at 10 a.m. The entry fee is $50 per person. Format is a four-person scramble and team handicaps must total 45 or more. A cash prize of $600 will go to the winning team. For more information, call (903) C Pharmacy 683-9518.

Big Buck winners announced
      Out of more than 70 entries in the 2009-10 Rusk FFA Big Buck Contest, three individuals came away with prizes. The winner of the contest was Ricky Lewis Jr. with a contest score of 69 3/8. The contest score is a combination of: number of points, length of main beams and inside spread. Mr. Lewis won a cash prize of $250.
