21 Indians named to All-District 14-4A squad

Twenty-one Indian football players were named to the 14-4A All-District Team, announced last Thursday afternoon.

The teams are not announced until the final district representative is eliminated from playoff contention.

Superlative honors

Running back and linebacker Justin Jones was named one of the district’s two MVPs, along with Lindale’s Matt Broussard.

The Indian senior racked up 259 yards and five touchdowns rushing, 45 yards and a touchdown receiving and was almost constantly in opposing backfields wreaking havoc.

Quarterback Ryan Black was named co-offensive player of the year with Whitehouse receiver Trey Metoyer.

Black went 130-264 on the year for 1,919 yards and 17 touchdowns to only six interceptions. Black also ran for 154 yards and two touchdowns on the year.

Running back Tevin Garland was named first-team running back.

The junior stepped in mid-season and finished the year with 76 carries, 375 yards rushing and three touchdowns and caught five passes for 84 yards and a touchdown.

Receiver Lavante Franklin was a unanimous selection to the first-team offense after a season with 24 catches for 385 yards and four touchdowns.

Fellow Indian receiver Chris Hall was named to the second-team offense with 40 catches for 540 yards and four touchdowns. Hall also rushed 12 times for 22 yards and a touchdown.

Offensive lineman Tedrick Tilley was named secondteam offensive tackle.

Junior defensive end Jacolby Scott was named to the first-team defense, along with senior cornerback Duke Hamilton.

Senior inside linebacker Brody Finch, senior cornerback Stacy Whitaker, junior safety Ty Sneed and senior punter Jeff Landrum were named to the second team all-district defense.

Honorable mention

Indians named to the honorable mention team were Adrian Munoz, Justin Davis, Hunter Priest, Cody Bolton, Cory Hamlett, Brandon Orr, Zach Woodson, Iran Lara and Tradarreon Moreland.

Jacksonville finished their season at 7-4.
