Lecture, book signing set Dec. 6
LufkCl LUFKIN: In conjunction with the JOHN JAMES AUDUBON: American Artist and Naturalist exhibition at the Museum of East Texas, Cliff Shackelford will present a lecture at the Museum entitled: Hummingbird Basics at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 6h. After the lecture, Shackelford will be available for a book signing. Shackelford is an ornithologist with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, where he's been employed for almost 13 years, and he is first author of the book Hummingbirds of Texas by Texas A&M University Press. He also has authored nearly 60 publications on birds and birding with over a dozen appearing in peer-reviewed journals. His presentation will discuss our area's hummingbirds, their natural history, and how to attract them. This lecture is open to the public and free of charge. About the Museum The Museum is a non-profit organization whose primary mission is education through exhibitions of art and history. The Museum is located at 503 N. Second Street in Lufkin, Texas (across from the Civic Center, near downtown). During the Audubon exhibition (September 27, 2009 through January 19, 2010), the Museum’s expanded hours will be Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Museum will be open for extended hours (until 8 p.m.) from December 19 through 23, 2009.
