Jacksonville resident pleads in federal court
      A 48-year-old Jacksonville pharmacist pleaded guilty last week to federal drug violations in the Eastern District of Texas. Timothy Lyn Worsham pleaded guilty Nov. 4 to acquisition of a controlled substance by fraud before U.S. Magistrate Judge John D. Love.

Democrats slate potluck supper Thursday, Nov. 19
     Cherokee County Democrats sponsor a potluck supper at 6:30 p.Thursday, Nov. 19, in the fellowship hall of Shady Grove Church of Christ near Rusk. To get to the church go Rusk and turn east on U.S. Highway 84, toward Reklaw. Drive approximately 7.5 miles and turn right Farm Road 2962. Shady Grove is about half a mile down FM 2962 on the left in trees.

Republicans will meet Dec. 1 at the Legacy
      The Cherokee County Republican Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1 at The Legacy, 782 CR 1511 Jacksonville. For additional information and reservations contact President Steve Looney (903)-586-3228. The cost will be $16 per person which includes a traditional Christmas meal with trimmings. Those attending are asked to bring a wrapped gift for the gift exchange.

The Kingsmen
     The Kingsmen gospel quartet will be presented in concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21 at the Wells High School auditorium. The concert is presented by the Wells FFA. Tickets are $10 in advance and slightly higher at the door. Children tickets are $5.

     Rusk Firemen Terry Phillips and Zack Bryant take Sparky to visit the children at Nana’s Playhouse during fire prevention week. The children are Ava Kozlovsky, Nash Acker, Katelyn Henslee, Wesley McCalister, Alex Patterson and Lexi Birkelbach.

Rusk wins area, regional FFA wildlife competition
Banners presented for 6th consecutive year
      The Rusk FFA Wildlife team consisting of Tommy Marchetti, Colton Kadlecek, Kailan Counahan and Johnny Marchetti won both the Area and Regional FFA Wildlife Contests for the sixth consecutive year. Tommy Marchetti placed first in high individual over the area and region. The team has now advanced to the state competition.

Jacksonville Library sponsors book sale
      The Friends of the Library Book Sale is scheduled from Friday, Nov.13- Sunday, Nov. 15, at the Jacksonville Public Library. Nov. 13, is “Friends Preview Day.” Only those who volunteer to help set up and/or work at the sale, and members of the Friends of the Library will be allowed in to view and purchase books from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
