Hamrick lecture set for Thursday, November 19, at the Museum of East Texas.

Hamrick is a fourth-generation Texan who grew up in Nacogdoches and has lived in Lufkin for the past 13 years

LUFKIN: In conjunction with the JOHN JAMES AUDUBON: American Artist and Naturalist exhibition at the Museum of East Texas, Joe Hamrick will present a lecture: Audubon’s America: His Life, Art, and Family at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 19th.

Hamrick’s lecture will briefly summarize Audubon's life, art, and family in the context of early American history, with more than twenty-eight slides of original paintings, prints and portraits.

Hamrick is a fourth-generation Texan who grew up in Nacogdoches and has lived in Lufkin for the past thirteen years. A Texas A&M graduate, he worked for Temple-Inland for eighteen years as a wildlife and forest resources manager and has been a consultant with Raven Environmental Services for the last eight years. His interest in John James Audubon is linked to his love of nature, American history, and wildlife art. As a collector of Audubon prints, Mr. Hamrick has developed associations and friendships with a few Audubon scholars across the country, including a direct descendant of Audubon himself.

This lecture is open to the public and free of charge.
