1st ad hoc citizen committee meets last week to lay groundwork
      An organizational meeting was held last Wednesday in Jacksonville to consider committee assignments and interview prospective consultants for a possible wet-dry election. George Douglas, a Jacksonville businessman, said that he wants to see increased revenue in Jacksonville and wants to have a level playing field with surrounding towns and cities.

Rusk State Hospital budget announced
      Three months into the new fiscal year, Rusk State Hospital has an official budget: $43.8 million and 335 patient beds. “This is the highest it has ever been,” said Ted Debbs, RSH superintendent. As a comparison, the budget five years ago called for 280 beds and $33 milliion.
