Forest Service offers ‘fee-free day’ in honor of Veterans Day
Camping fees remain in effect, but day-use fees will be waived on Nov. 11
In honor of Veterans Day and Americans who have served in the armed services, the National Forests and Grasslands in Texas is waiving day-use fees on Nov. 11 at select recreation areas in the Angelina, Sabine, Davy Crockett and Sam Houston National Forests, and on the Caddo and Lyndon B. Johnson Grasslands.
“We extend this invitation to recognize the service and sacrifices of our nation’s veterans and their families,” said Linda Brett, Forest Supervisor for the National Forests and Grasslands in Texas. “We hope you take this opportunity to visit your National Forests and Grasslands in Texas to help make your Veterans Day more memorable.”
Camping fees remain in effect, but day-use fees will be waived on Nov. 11 at these recreation areas:
Angelina National Forest -- Boykin Springs, Sandy Creek, Caney Creek and Townsend
Sabine National Forest -- Red Hill Lake, Ragtown, East Hamilton, Indian Mounds, Lakeview and Willow Oak
Davy Crockett National Forest -- Ratcliff Lake
Sam Houston National Forest – Cagle, Scotts Ridge and Double Lake
Caddo National Grassland -- East Lake Crockett, West Lake Crockett and Coffeemill
LBJ National Grassland -- Black Creek Lake
