Criminal, civil Medicaid fraud teams protect Texas taxpayers
     The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is committed to protecting taxpayers. With that goal in mind, we are focused on eliminating waste, fraud and abuse in the $21 billion Medicaid program, which provides taxpayer-funded health care to low-income Texans. There are two fronts to our ongoing battle against Medicaid fraud.

Early voting ends Oct. 30 for Texas Constitutional amendment election
Voters will cast ballots on 11 constitutional amendments
      Early voting for the Nov. 3 Texas Constitutional election has created very little interest in Cherokee County. By 5 p.m. Friday only 204 persons had cast ballots in the election. Of that number 61 voted in the county courthouse basement in Rusk; 117 at the Jacksonville Senior Citizen building; and 26 at the A. Frank Smith United Methodist Church in Alto.
