     All it took was the purchase of only one raffle ticket, and Ramon Fernandez became the official winner of the YNS LS-49 scooter, raffled off by the Rusk Rotary Club.

Stolen cattle found at Sulphur Springs
Ranchers encouraged to brand cattle
      Henry Dwight Hogg, 32, has been arrested and charged with the theft of five head of cattle from a Cherokee County ranch. Mr. Hogg allegedly sold the cattle at a livestock auction in Sulphur Springs.

Jacksonville College hosts ‘Boo at the Zoo
      Student volunteers from Jacksonville College will host the “Boo at the Zoo” event at Caldwell Zoo in Tyler from 1-4 p.m. Saturday Oct. 31 (Halloween day). This Halloween 4,000-5,000 people are expected to visit the zoo. Thirty six Jacksonville College students have volunteered to spend Halloween evening at the zoo.

County commissioners consider 15 items
Approve establishment of local data advisory board; also approve election judges and alternates for Nov. 3 election
      Cherokee County commissioners considered an agenda of 15 items when they met Monday morning in the county courtroom. A request from Clint Goff, airport coordinator, to hire a part-time/full time employee for Fixed Based Operations (FBO), was tabled. “I don’t think we need to hire anyone,” Commissioner Kevin Pierce, Precinct 2, said.

2 arrested in Jacksonville on drug charges
      Two Jacksonville men were arrested last Friday on drug charges after execution of a search warrant by the Cherokee County Sheriff ’s Office Narcotics Division. Roderick Jermaine Kendrick, 21, and Ta’Rodrick Tyrell Brooks, 25, of Jacksonville, were arrested at approximately 3 p.m. at a residence on Andrews St. in Jacksonville.

      Caddo Mounds to relocate 1936 Centennial Historical Marker The Texas Historical Commission and the Caddo Nation Tribal Council have come to an agreement that the 1936 Centennial Historical Marker be removed from the Ceremonial Mound and relocated elsewhere at the Caddo Mounds State Historic Site.
