      A jury in the Cherokee County Court-at-Law court of Judge Craig Fletcher returned a not guilty verdict in the  sexual misconduct trial of Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Thomas Bledsoe Thursday afternoon.

     The Cherokee Cloggers will dance at the Rusk Pioneer and Heritage Festival this weekend. They are also scheduled to perform at the Montalba Fall Festival. The group danced Aug.

Couple tells wedding plans
      Amy Nicole Myers and Jeremy Dan Pate will be married Oct. 17 at The Legacy in Jacksonville. Miss Myers is the daughter of Richard and Beckie Harvey of Eustace. Her grandparents are William Koonce and the late Johnnie Koonce and Bobbie Harvey and the late Pearl Harvey and the late Homer Kirkwood.

Humphreys-Munn vows will be said Oct. 3 at bride’s home
      The engagement of Laci Lonianne Humphreys and Michael Leon Munn has been announced. The couple will be married at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 3 at the bride’s family home at 420 Crockett St. in Rusk. Miss Humphreys is the daughter of Charles and Karen Humphreys of Rusk. Mr. Munn is the son of Kim Sursa of Ennis and Statey Munn of Rusk.

Rusk FFA hosts Big Buck Contest starting Oct. 3
      A Big Buck Contest is being hosted by the Rusk FFA beginning Oct. 3. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased from a Rusk FFA member. Deer will be scored by officials utilizing inside width, length of main beams and numbers of scoreable points utilizing Boone & Crockett Standards. Contest officials have the final say on any rule or contest discrepancy.

Volleyball tournament slated Oct. 17
      Employees of Cypress Unit at Rusk State Hospital will sponsor a volleyball tournament which will be played at the Rusk High School’s old gym. Entry fee is $60. Deadline is Oct. 13.
