Workshop dispatches 12-item agenda
Future is open for growth possibilities
      The Cherokee County Mental Retardation Association, Inc. reviewed a 12-item agenda during a regular meeting Sept. 25 at the workshop in Jacksonville. Included was the approval of a budget for 2009-10 fiscal year. Executive Director Elton McCune made the presentation including these comments:

Theatre season honors Gloria Dotson for 37 years
     The Cherokee Civic Theatre will dedicate the 2009- 10 season to the memory of Gloria Peairs Dotson for helping build and sustain the theatre for 37 years. Oct. 5 is last day to register to vote for Nov. 3 election
      Oct. 5 is the last day to register to vote in the Nov. 3 constitutional election. Persons wishing to register to vote can do so at the tax office in the courthouse in Rusk; and sub-station offices in Alto and Jacksonville. Also, applications are available at the Jacksonville Public Library.

TDCJ will sponsor charity garage sale
      Texas Department of Criminal Justice Skyview/Hodge units will sponsor a charity garage sale from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 2 and 3 and Oct. 9 and 10 at the old Baskins Building in downtown Rusk.
