Verdict rendered in embezzlement trial

Former Rusk city bookkeeper Doris Robinson, 61, was sentenced to 10 years in prison, a sentence probated for 10 years, and fined $5,000 in her theft trial Wednesday afternoon. She was ordered to pay restitution of $143,000. Because the term was probated, Mrs. Robinson will not have to serve jail time.

A jury composed of five white women, a black woman and six white men sentenced Mrs. Robinson after an hour and 45 minutes of deliberation.

She was indicted by a grand jury on Feb. 25, 2008.
