Have you heard a funny 'lawyer joke' lately?
      Dear Dad - Nobody loved a good "lawyer joke" better than you. I remember how your green eyes narrowed in size when you were about to tell a really funny one. Like a a card player, you had a "tell." Just before the punch line, your eyes twinkled as you anticipated that moment of raucous laughter from everyone within earshot.

Seniors...you are on an on-ramp
      Every good graduation speech on television seems to start with one phrase, delivered dramatically: "Seniors...you are at a crossroads." Really? Aside from the fact that I have never heard that phrase delivered off-screen, I have always wondered whether or not high school or college graduation is really a "crossroads.

HIGH POINTS from El Camino Real
      F olks along El Camino Real have been waiting for this week since August. School is finally out and youngsters get a break from teachers and vice versa. When I was a kid, I didn't wear shoes unless I was going to church - from the time school let out until we went back after Labor Day.
