Wanted: 2,000 dogs, cats needing vaccines
4 county veterinarians band together for annual rabies campaign
      Four Cherokee County veterinarians have banded together to fight rabies. Vaccination clinics have been scheduled at 14 locations for 10 days. Veterinarians hope to limit the number of rabies cases in Cherokee County by vaccinating approximately 2,000 cats and dogs in a popular campaign that lowers the cost to pet owners.

      Debra Dominy, Rusk native, has been transferred to the Rusk Edward Jones office, 148 S. Main Street. Mrs. Dominy assumes the position of financial advisor from Steve Slover. She formerly was at the Palestine office.

Historical commission dedicates marker
      A Texas historical marker was dedicated by the Cherokee County Historical Commission at the Benge Cemetery Sunday, April 26. Attending were 180 family and friends. Among those buried there six Confederate soldiers. In 2006 the Sons of the Confederacy marked these six graves and the United Daughters of the Confederacy Moses M.
