Where Eagles dare: improvement leads to optimism
Despite dropping season finale to Hudson, Eagles find hope for 2010
      As painful as it may be for some, think back to last basketball season. The Rusk Eagles had just finished basketball season with a 76-64 loss to Hudson. The loss dropped them to 8-20 on the season and 0-14 in district play. Fast forward to this year. The Eagles have just finished their basketball season with a 66-31 loss to Hudson.

Lady Eagle softball wins 6 on way to Hudson title
      Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones could frequently find "no satisfaction." That mindset would work perfectly if the Stones wanted to play softball at Rusk. The Lady Eagle softball team improved their record to 7-0 on the year with six victories at the Hudson Tournament this past weekend, including a 10-5 victory over Class 5A Lufkin in the championship game.

Texas Parks and Wildlife proposes changes to hunting, fishing regulations
      The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is looking for opinions and comments on recent proposals for new hunting and fishing regulations. Public hearings will be held over the next few weeks in several cities in the area to gauge public sentiment on 34 proposed amendments to the state's hunting and fishing regulations.

Building a piece of heaven

Rusk Senior Finale to hold golf tourney fundraiser
      A golf tournament for the Rusk Senior Finale will be held on Saturday, March 7 at the Birmingham Forest Golf Club. Proceeds will benefit the RHS class of 2009 Senior Finale. The cost to register is $50 per person and the format is a four-man scramble. The total team handicap must be 48 or more.

Rusk, Alto Baseball/Softball Association sign-ups slated
      The Rusk Baseball/Softball Association will hold their sign-ups through March 7. Sign-up times are from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Rusk High School Gymnasium. The cost is $35 per child for children ages 3-4 and $60 per child for children ages 5-15.
