Diabetes education class begins March 4 The Cherokee County office of Texas AgriLife Extension Service will begin a free diabetes education series Wednesday, March 4. Classes will meet every Wednesday through April 1 at the courthouse annex building, 165 E. 6th Street in Rusk. The classes are being co-sponsored by HOPE. Different topics will be covered each week and include nutrition, exercise, medication, glucose monitors, foot care, measuring and labeling reading, carbohydrate counting and eating out. Diabetes has no cure, but with self-care and conscientious monitoring of blood glucose levels, people with diabetes can live long, productive and healthy lives. Classes are open to diabetics and caregivers of diabetics. In the Fall a cooking well with diabetes class will be offered. For more information or to sign-up for the class, call Wendi Green at (903) 683-5416. |
