Auditions for spring productions set March 1, 2 Auditions for the upcoming Cherokee County spring show of April Fish & The Wooing of Lady Sunday will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 1 and 7 p.m. Monday, March 2. Rachel Joseph will direct the production. This is a first time for her to serve as director. "I'm looking forward to directing this farce, it should be a lot of fun for the audience," Miss Joseph said. She has attended Lon Morris College and Texas A&M Commerce where she studied theater. "April Fish & Lady Sunday" is actually composed of two one-act plays. The two plays are done in the farce style that traces its roots back to the Commedia Del'Arte movement of early Italian theater. It's only fitting that these two shows utilize Italy and Little Italy as their backdrops. "I'm anxious to see the show come to life...it's always worth the blood, sweat and tears when you hear the audience laughing," she said. Volunteers are always needed at the theater. Persons interested in helping with the productions may call (903) 683-2131 and leave a message or log onto www.cherokeetheatre.net. |
