Local dairymen eligible to receive income loss money
      LaCresha Dale, Executive Director for USDA's Farm Service Agency in Cherokee County has announced due to low milk prices FSA will be making payments in April to producers through the FSA's Milk Income Loss Contract, or MILC, program.

School gets national recognition
      Jacksonville Nichols Intermediate School has been recognized by the National Center for educational Achievement (NCEA) for its TAKS math scores. The campus was recognized because its students performed at a higher level than was predicted in math. Nichols students were compared with students from other schools with the same demographics.

Shredding old records
     Randy Garratt of Ark-La-Tex Shredding Company Inc. shreds a can of old papers at the Cherokee County Courthouse. The company shredded 5,951 pounds of old records on Friday. They will return to the county on March 6. Offices participating in the clean-up program were the tax assessor-collector, county attorney and district clerk. Ark-La-Tex does on and off site shredding services for financial and health care businesses. They have 1,500 regular customers within a 115 mile radius of Tyler. They work for the Attorney General, IRS, FDIC and Social Security.
