Tax refunds may not be real
      The newest phishing endeavor involves an IRS scam in which e-mails are sent to area taxpayers. The e-mails report an $869 fraudulent tax refund designated to the receiver. The e-mail looks authentic and taxpayers are warned to beware and not to use personal tax information for the reply.

Bridal fair slated March 7 in downtown Rusk
      The third annual Rusk bridal fair is planned for 10 a.m.-2 pm. March 7 at 517 N. Main St. in Rusk. This year the chamber will raffle off a 19 inch LCD television. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.

      The Resale Shop operated by the Volunteer Council for the Rusk State Hospital Inc. is open 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at 545 Castner St in Rusk on the first and second Friday of each month. Proceeds benefit the patients.

Commissioner Traylor attends special training for new officials
      Commissioner Kelly Traylor, Precinct 1, joined more than 130 newly elected judges and commissioners Jan. 13-16 for a seminar for newly elected commissioners and judges. The seminar was part one of the commissioners court advanced curriculum certification.
