The lights were bright, the game tipped off and the people came out, despite frigid temperatures outside. The Rusk Eagles and Lady Eagles played their first game action in Eagle Coliseum last Tuesday night. For the boys, Montrell Sessions finished second in the 132-lb. weight class. More ... l Staff and customers at Texas National Bank in Rusk caught Super Bowl fever on Friday afternoon, two days before the big game, complete with popcorn and drinks. Etech RMS will sponsor a golf tournament on Saturday, March 7 at the Birmingham Forest Golf Club. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Rusk High School class of 2009 Senior Finale. The cost to register is $50 per person and the format is a four-man scramble. The total team handicap must be 48 or more. More ... The Cherokee County Baseball/ Softball Association, formerly known as the Alto Youth Baseball/Softball Association, will hold a mandatory coaches' meeting at 6 p.m. Feb. 17 at the Alto Rural Water office. Sign-up forms will be sent home from school with all youth the first week of February. More ... The Cardinals squad of Johnny Lawrence, Cody Allen, Steve Winfield and Wade Floswosky (pictured above) won the 15th annual Superbowl Scramble at Birmingham Forest Golf Club on Jan. 31 with a score of 56.
