Auditions slated July 26-28 for 'Brigadoon' production
CHEROKEE CIVIC THEATRE

Audition dates for the Cherokee Civic Theatre fall musical, "Brigadoon," directed by longtime theatre member Camille Jones.

"Brigadoon" is the story of a mysterious Scottish village that appears for only one day every hundred years, though to the villagers, the passing of each century seems no longer than one night. The enchantment is viewed by them as a blessing rather than a curse, for it saved the village from destruction. According to their covenant with God, no one from Brigadoon may ever leave, or the enchantment will be broken and the site and all its inhabitants will disappear into the mist forever. Two American tourists, lost in the Highlands stumble upon the village just as a wedding is about to be celebrated, and their arrival has serious implications for the village's inhabitants.

"Brigadoon" is directed by Camille Jones, assistant directed by Diki Parker, and produced by Jerry Parker. Musical Director is Minette Satterwhite Trent, with Roy Reynolds providing accompaniment.

Audition dates are 10 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2 p.m. Sunday, July 27 and 7 p.m. Monday, July 28. Show dates are 7:30 p.m. Oct. 9, 10, 11, 17, 18 and 2 p.m. Oct. 12. Auditions and production will take place at the historic Cherokee Civic Theatre, located at 157 West 5th Street, downtown Rusk just west of the Rusk Post Office. There are roles for all ages from children to adults, and everyone is encouraged to audition. Prior experience is not necessary, and all newcomers are welcomed.
