Funeral for Cherry Lynn Grimes, 31, of Rusk was at 4 p.m., Tuesday, at the Rusk First Baptist Church with the Rev. Curtis Oliver officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.

Mrs. Grimes and her son, Trevor Gauge Lankford, died May 8 of injuries sustained in an auto accident. She was born August 6, 1976, in Bossier City, La. She was a resident of Rusk for 13 years, formerly of Shreveport, La. Mrs. Grimes was a member of Branded By Christ Cowboy Church in Rusk and employed as a bank teller at Franklin Bank in Carthage. She had previously worked at Franklin Bank in Rusk. Preceding her in death were grandparents, Mary Porter Miller and Horace and Betty Matthews Sr.

She is survived by her husband, Phillip Grimes of Rusk; daughter, Lauren Sierra Lankford of Rusk; two step sons, Dakota Grimes of Rusk and Trenton Glenn Lankford of Rusk; father and step-mother, Terry and Harley Matthews Jr. of Monroe, La.; mother, Donna Faye Miller of Rusk; father-inlaw and mother-in-law, David and Pamela Grimes of Rusk; two brothers-in-law and sisterin law, Shane and Tina Callaway of Rusk and Jeremy Grimes of Rusk; grandparents, James P. Miller of Shreveport, La., George and Allene Wagner of Hooper, Neb.; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Pallbearers were Shane Callaway, Jeremy Grimes, Steven Brown, Robert Jenkins, Jason Jones and Michael Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Desoto Drilling and Franklin Bank Employees. Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home was in charge.
