New correctional officers wanted, screening set
Warden wants to recruit 30-32 new correctional officers

Skyview-Hodge Warden Todd Foxworth hopes a new officer screening process will produce him 30-32 new hires. The screening is scheduled for 7:45 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday, May 21-22.

A TDCJ recruiter will screen correctional officer applicants at the Skyview Unit in Rusk.

"We are currently running about 40 employees short and we do have the vacancies," Warden Foxworth said.

"People from the screening will be new hires.

This list will not include persons transferring in from other units," he said. "We are getting two or three employees a month from the transfer list," he added.

However the list of persons wishing to transfer to Rusk is dwindling and now only includes approximately 10 names.

"This is the be the only time applicants will be screened here," Warden Foxworth said. "I understand they screen everyday at Palestine," he said.

The screening process will not only be for the Rusk units but for all units in Texas.

So persons seeking employment elsewhere can be screened here.

Interested persons are asked to go to www.tdcj. state.tx.us to schedule for screening.

To do this applicants are asked to open the website, select "Employment;" select "Request CO Screening;" choose "screening location and date;" download and complete the employment application forms.

Applicants should take their completed State of Texas Application for Employment, TDCJ Employment Application Supplement, Statement of Availability and all required documents and copies to their scheduled Correctional Officer screening appointment.
