Hangers for planes only Cherokee County Commissioners met briefly Monday morning to approve the purchase of a used Rex pulverize mixer for Precinct 2. The only bid received was for $32,500 from Callens Company, Inc. of Tyler. In another matter commissioners approved regulation changes for airport hanger leases. Only 60 days will be allowed to construct a hanger instead of 180 days as formerly required. People using hangers will be required use the hangers for airplanes and not as storage areas. Clint Goff, airport coordinator for the county, said currently the county charges 10 cents per square foot per year for leasing land to house a hanger. Commissioners approved a proclamation declaring May as elder abuse prevention month. In other matters commissioners approved monthly reports for Sheriff James Campbell, Constable Lynn Kelley, Constable Eddie Lee and County Auditor L.H. Crockett. Attending the meeting were Judge Chris Davis; Commissioners Mary Gregg, Kevin Pierce, Moody Glass Jr., Byron Underwood; County Clerk Laverne Lusk; and County Auditor Crockett. |
