Relay teams dominate regional track

The Alto track teams dominated the regional track meet held April 25-26 in Nacogdoches.

The Yellowjackets qualified three boys relay teams and two girls relay teams for the state track meet May 9-10 on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin.

The girls 400 meter relay team made up of Taneshia Pope, LaShundra Gassaway, LaQuendal Tyler and Katina Sturns qualified for the state meet.

The girls 800 meter qualified as well. The team members are Pope, Gassaway, Tyler and Sturns.

The boys 400 meter relay team made up of DeMarcus Griffin, Devon Patton, Javante Jones and Brandon Thacker qualified for Austin, as will the 800 meter relay team made up of Griffin, Patton, Jones and Bud Tyler.

The mile relay team consisting of Jordan Shaw, Hayden Scott, Kliton Wade and Bud Tyler will also represent Alto at the state track meet.
