Council will discuss zone change The Rusk City Council will meet at 5 p.m. Thursday at city hall to consider an agenda of 17 items. Among the items expected for approval will be a resolution for articles of incorporation and by-laws of the new 4B sales tax corporation. Ike and Norma Daniel have requested a zone change for property located behind their Ike's Feed Mill site on U.S. Highway 69. The feed mill property is zoned B-2, general business district. Mr. and Mrs. Daniel are asking for the back portion of the lot to be re-zoned from residential one family district to B-2 also. Residents living in the residential area have objected to the proposed zone change. Also on the agenda will be the approval of a cemetery maintenance contract. Three bids have been received by the city. The council is expected to approve a contract for management service with Gary R. Traylor & Associates Inc. for a HOME program contract through the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs. Teresa Langley, president of the Rusk Chamber of Commerce will request the formation of a Keep Rusk Beautiful Committee. A bid will be approved for operation of the Rusk Swimming Pool. The council is expected to approve the expenditure of funds from asset forfeiture account by the chief of police for police department equipment and funds from the municipal court technology fund for computer hardware and software updating. An executive session is planned to discuss a complaint from Joanne Hart concerning Golfcrest Drive. |
