Rusk students will participate in international competition

Eight Rusk students received 34 medals in regional competition earning them an opportunity to advance to the international meet. Cherokee Christian Academy students will represent Texas at international competition in May at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Mo.

They received 34 awards for various achievements at the March 31-April 4 Southern Plains Regional Student Convention at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Encampment in Cedar Hill. Accelerated Christian education ministries sponsored the event attended by more than 300 students.

Eight students from the Rusk school received first place in archery, art, checkers, chess and violin competitions. The six boys dominated the physical fitness competition and received five out of six possible medals given for each competition. Also the students received medals in drama, metalworking, soccer kick and track.

Students are currently preparing for a schoolyard bargain sale scheduled for Friday and Saturday, May 2-3 to finance the trip to Missouri. All proceeds will be used for convention expenses. Pick-up on any item is available by calling (903) 683-4375. Donations are tax deductible.
