MARIE MAYO Funeral for Marie Mayo, 86, of Rusk was at 3 p.m. Monday in the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Don Copeland and the Rev. G.A. Stanfield officiating. Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Mayo died April 25. She was born Sept. 21, 1921, in Trinidad, to the late William Jarrett and Minnie Stevens Stanfield. She was a Rusk resident for 50 years, formerly of Trinidad. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Rusk. She retired in 1994 after 14 years of service with Rusk ISD. Mrs. Mayo was a child care provider for 30 years. Preceding her in death were her husband Aubrey Mayo in 1997; two sisters, Odessa Ward and Leona Jackson; and a brother, Luther Stanfield. Survivors are two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Judy Mayo of Henderson and Jerry Don and Teresia Mayo of Chapel Hil; a daughter and sonin law, Linda and Roy Griffin of Streetman; eight grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Family and friends served as pallbearers. |
