OVELL HALBERT KING Funeral for Ovell Halbert King, 86, of Oakland was at 2 p.m., Friday, April 18, in the Oakland Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. R.S. Dyess and the Rev. Ricky King officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery. Mrs. King died April 15. She was born April 24, 1921, in Dialville. She lived in Rusk and Oakland most of her life. She retired from Rusk State Hospital in 1983 after 12 years of service. She was a member of Oakland Missionary Baptist Church. Preceding her in death were her husband, Walter Merle King; her parents, Tom and Dora Halbert; two brothers and two sisters. Survivors are two sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Jody King and Lynn and Lynn Ann King, all of Rusk; a sister, Opal Sanders of Rusk; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Peat and Albert Wesley King of Houston and Tommie and Preston Hill of Brownwood; five grandsons and their wives, Tim and Melissa King, Randy and Sherry King and Mark and Jodi King, all of Rusk, Ricky and Lynnette King of Junction City, La. and Dale King of Jacksonville; two granddaughters and their husbands, Charlotte and Roger Stewart of Rusk and Nicky and Jim Crow of Brock; 20 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Mark King, Jim Crow, Roger Stewart, Dale King, Timmy King, Jaylon Bolton, Erick Warren and Jonathan Beeney. Honorary pallbearers were of Oakland Missionary Baptist Church deacons and Joy Faye and Jerry Meador. Arrangements were under the direction of Wallace- Thompson Funeral Home. |
