It's time to register 4-year-olds at Alto Alto Elementary principal, Melody Witt, is announcing the date for the PreK, fouryear old roundup for the 2008-09 school year. Sign-up date is from noon to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 1, on the elementary campus. A child must be four years old by Sept. 1 to be eligible to enter this program. The four year old program will be a full day program with educational hours from 7:45 a.m.-3:35 p.m. each day. Transportation to and from school will be provided to eligible bus riders along with breakfast and lunch. Free or reduced breakfast and lunch will be available for those families who qualify. Enrollment priority will be given to those students who qualify as homeless, ESL (English as a Second Language), or for free or reduced lunch program. Other students may sign up and may be placed in classes if qualified students do not fill all of the available slots. Parents must bring the following items in order to register their child: proof of residency (utility bills or lease agreements in the parent's name), official copy of the child's birth certificate, copy of an official Social Security card of the student and the parent enrolling the child, up to date immunization record, and a copy of the enrolling person's driver's license. Persons who cannot make the roundup time, may go by the office to enroll their children after this date. Call the Alto elementary office at (936) 858-7170 if there are any questions. |
