16-year-old charged with robbery, assault in Troup
BY JEREME HUBBARD

A 16-year-old girl was arrested by the Cherokee County Sheriff's office Sunday and charged with attempted robbery and assault of a Troup woman.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call Sunday morning from Troup resident Trina Davis that a young girl had knocked on her door asking for help.

The girl told Ms. Davis that she had been forced out of a vehicle nearby. She also told Ms. Davis that she could not seek medical help because she is an illegal immigrant from Mexico.

Once inside Ms. Davis' home, the 16-year-old told Ms. Davis, "You're going to die."

The daughter of Ms. Davis, 28-year-old Jennifer Taylor, overheard the statement from a nearby room and rushed to help her mother. During the altercation, Ms. Taylor was able to dial 911. Upon hearing the phone call placed to 911, the suspect fled the home to a nearby wooded area.

The deputies responding to the scene notified the Criminal Investigation Division, who began organizing resources needed for a fugitive manhunt. The officers established a perimeter and then assisted the Texas Department of Corrections K9 officers and the Troup Police Department in tracking the girl.

At around 2:45 p.m. the Smith County 911 Communication Division received a call from a resident in Smith County telling officers he had the suspect on his property and was holding her at gunpoint. Officers conducting perimeter security had made the property owner aware of the suspect and the situation.

Further investigation identified the suspect as a Tyler resident.

She was arrested for aggravated robbery and is being held in the Anderson County Juvenile Detention Center.
