Youth gets scholarship

Michael (Trae) Gunter, a gifted and talented fourth grader at Rusk Intermediate School, recently won a $500 theater production scholarship from Region VII in Kilgore.

He is the son of Ronnie and Mikah Gunter.

Trae, along with his parents, each wrote a composition stating why he is deserving to receive this award. Liz Dugat, his G/T teacher, also wrote a composition about Trae's qualities, strengths and goals. "Trae will enhance this program. He is a very talented young man", said Mrs. Dugat.

He will attend an instructional camp this summer to receive hands-on/minds-on learning experiences.

Carlene Clayton, Rusk Intermediate principal said, "Trae is a very good student. I am so proud that he has this great opportunity. I feel that Trae will be a good representative of Rusk ISD."
