Superintendent says thanks I want to thank the Rusk Fire Department and all the local agencies who participated in the "Consequences" program at our high school last week. Also, to our Rusk High School students and community members who participated in the re-enactment. I know it took a lot of planning, teamwork, resources, time and money for all of these groups to participate in this mock accident scene. I hope it served as a good training opportunity for the agencies, and it gave our students and staff a look at what really happens at an accident scene. The students heard some very powerful testimonies from people who had been directly affected by drunk driving accidents. It was a great reminder that every time a person gets behind the wheel of a car while impaired by drugs, alcohol, or even distracted by a cell phone, they make decisions that may potentially affect their life and the lives of others. I beg our students and everyone in our community to make good choices when you make the decision to get in a vehicle. If not for yourself, for those who love you. |
