Meagan Michele Slaton and Sgt. Matthew Curtis Jacobs exchanged wedding vows at Dec. 22, 2007, at Lon Morris College chapel with the Rev. Charles Gipson officiating and Dustin Slaton, brother of the bride, assisting.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Slaton of Jacksonville and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. L.P. Halbert Jr. of Rusk, Mildred Slaton of Athens and the late Weldon Slaton. The groom is the son of Ann Longworth of Waverly, Ohio and Mark Jacobs of Coshocton, Ohio.
Presented in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of duchess diamond white organza over matching satin. She wore pearls given to her by her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. O'dean Slaton. Her bridal bouquet was tied with white satin ribbon, along with a handkerchief, embroidered with blue flowers which belonged to her great-great Aunt Emma Dunham. Maid of honor was Ashley Montgomery of Jacksonville and bridesmaid was Melody Slaton, of Howe, sister-in-law of the bride. Best man was Sgt. Bradley Murphy of Idaho Falls, Idaho. Grooms- man was Cpl. Michael Vasquez of Houston. Ushers were Jeremy Davis and Ryan Bullock of Jacksonville and Sgt. Michael Thibault of Belton. Flower girls and ring bearer were Aliyah and Adison Guthrie, nieces of the groom and Tyrus Guthrie, nephew of the groom, all from Coshocton, Ohio. After the giving of the bride, the prayer and charge were given by Dustin Slaton. Wedding vows were presented by Rev. Gipson, after which, the bride and groom signed their family Bible while the violinist, Jamie Reason played "Only Trust Him." Joey Marshall of Jacksonville sang "The Lord's Prayer."
A reception hosted by the bride's parents was held at The Woods of Jacksonville. The flower arrangements for the wedding and reception were created by Michele Slaton, mother of the bride. Members of the hostess party were Laura Grimes, Kendall Marshall, Patti Tarrant and Heather Slaton. The rehearsal dinner was held at Larissa House on Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, hosted by O'dean and Peggy Slaton.
Mrs. Jacobs is a 2005 graduate of Jacksonville High School and a 2007 graduate of Jacksonville College and is attending the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton. The groom is a 2000 graduate of Coshocton High School. Following a honeymoon to Ohio, the couple resides at Fort Hood, where the groom is stationed..
