ELSIE DEE JOHNSON

Funeral for Elsie Dee Johnson, 86, of Rusk, was at 10 a.m. Friday in the Oakland Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. R.S. Dyess and the Rev. Don Copeland officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.

Mrs. Johnson died March 25. She was born Oct. 3, 1921, in Cherokee County to Frederick William and Alva Jane Sides Jones. She was a lifelong county resident and a member of the Oakland Missionary Baptist Church. She was a seamstress.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Ray Johnson; a son, Jessie Ray Johnson; and her parents.

Survivors are two daughters, Shirley Ann Wink of Rusk and Bobbie McDonald of Dayton; a brother, Charles Jones of Rusk; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Dean Simpson, Jackie Simpson, James Ray Jones, Ronnie Jones, Lance Richardson, Zack Richardson, Cole Richardson and Brandon Richardson. Arrangements were under the direction of Boren-Conner Funeral Home.
