The Rev. Lee Ray and Ethel Lee Chapman Best will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Friday, April 4. A reception in their honor will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at First Baptist Church in Alto. Friends and family are invited.
Rev. and Mrs. Best were married in Plainview after having met while both were attending Wayland Baptist College.
Rev. Best has been a Baptist minister for more than 50 years.
He is currently the pastor of Messiah Baptist Church in Timpson. Mrs. Best is a retired nurse and teacher.
They lived in Jacksonville for many years and have four children who graduated from Jacksonville High School. They and their spouses are Barbara Lee Best and the Rev. David Wayne Marchbanks of Cleburne; Mark Andrew and Pam Best, serving as Southern Baptist missionaries in Durango, Mexico; Robin Dewayne and Dawn Roberts Best, living at Stryker Lake; and Darla Kay Best and the Rev. David Britt of Portageville, Mo. Rev. and Mrs. Best have 16 grandchildren and are expecting their first great grandchild in May.
