Rusk, Alto teams gear up for Doug Jordan Relays
Eagles, Jackets compete in Tribe Relays in Jacksonville

Rusk and Alto track teams fired out of the starting blocks at the Tribe Relays in Jacksonville March 13 in preparation for the Doug Jordan Relays which will be held in Rusk Thursday. The event saw the Alto and Rusk boys teams successful as Alto took second place and Rusk took third place at the meet. Center won the track meet with the host, Jacksonville, taking fifth.

Striking gold for the Rusk Eagle boys varsity team were Bobby McDuff (100-meter dash), John Carroll (pole vault) and Quinn Anthony (shot put). Silver winners were: Nick Bradshaw (400- meter dash), Demarcus Skinner, McDuff, J.J. Session and Horrace Lewis (400-meter relay), McDuff, Terrance Turner, Session and Lewis (800-meter relay), Lewis (high jump), Anthony (discus), Michael Katon (triple jump) and Trotter (shot put).

Bronze winners were: Lewis (200-meter dash), Trotter (discus) and McDuff (triple jump).

Striking gold for Alto were: Demarcus Griffin (200-meter dash) and the relay team of Tyler, Griffin, Thacker and Jones (800-meter relay).

Silver winners for Alto were: Devon Patton (200-meter dash), the relay team of Tyler, Shaw, Scott and Houston (1,600-meter relay) and Leon (3,200-meter run).

Bronze winners were: Tyler (100-meter dash), Leon (1,600-meter run), relay team of Shaw, Thacker, Griffin and Jones (400-meter relay), Dustin Crosby (pole vault) and Patton (long jump).

For the Lady Eagles track team, Cambry Blakemore took second place in discus while Britney Session took third in triple jump. Bonnie Talancon won third in the 300-meter hurdles.

The Doug Jordan Relays will begin at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Eagle Stadium on the campus of Rusk High School.
