removed from U.S. Highway 69 in Rusk near Dairy Queen. This is part of a $2.3 million Texas Department of Transportation project to repair the road base and resurface the highway.
Construction crews began base repair and resurfacing work on U.S. Highway 69 in Rusk Wednesday morning, March 19. Workers had been scheduled to begin on Tuesday but because of the rain, work was delayed on the $2.3 million project.

Contractor is R.K. Hall Construction Co. of Bullard. Sub-contractors are Tex-Op, which did the milling work (grinding the pavement). The seal coat will be done by P.R. Parker.

Larry Krantz of TxDOT said last week that the number of workers varied from one day to the next. However on March 19 there were seven employees for Tex-Op and 13 for R.K. Hall.

Work will be conducted in the outside southbound lane first, which is expected to take two weeks. After that work is completed workers will switch to the northbound side and repeat the work within the same limits. Work will be done on the inside lanes as well. The contractor should be finished by May 1.
