HARVEY HANCOCK
Funeral for Harvey James Hancock, 85, of Rusk will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 27, in the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Don Copeland officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday. Burial will be in Lynches Chapel Cemetery. Honor guard will be from Texas Department of Corrections. Graveside rites will be by Rusk Masonic Lodge No. 45.

Mr. Hancock died Easter Sunday, March 23. He was born March 2, 1923, in Rusk and was a long-long resident. He was a Baptist, a Master Mason and received a certificate and pin for more than 50 years of service from the Masonic Lodge of Rusk. He was a retiree from The Texas Department of Corrections, where he worked for more than 27 years. He was a warden in Maxwell security and worked at several of the Texas Prisons. He was also a member for several years with the Sheriffs' Association of Texas.

Preceding him in death were his son, Caroll James Hancock; his brothers and sisters, Leonard Edward Hancock, Billie Jack Hancock, Edna Merl Dickson, Sarah Grace Reid and Henry Hancock; his parents, William (Bill) Caver Hancock and Ida (Moffett) Hancock.

Survivors are his special friend, Thelma Whitehead of Rusk; his stepmother, Verna Lou Wilkinson of Rusk; his daughter and son-in-law, Ramona (Mona) L. and Ron Anderson of Lake Jacksonville; his son Bluford Hancock; daughter in-law, Jeanette Hancock of Lufkin; brother, Coy Hancock of Fort Worth; two sisters Arnella Jones of Rusk, and Mary Lou West of Arkansas; sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Greg Wilkinson of Rusk; five grandchildren, Frank B. Anderson (U.S. Navy) of Jacksonville, Travis J. and Sara Anderson of Midland, Kyla Faith Chandler, James Caroll Hancock of Lufkin, Lucy Hancock of Houston; great-granddaughter, Georgie Anderson of Bedford; great-grandson, Griffin Anderson of Midland; nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Greg Wilkinson, Frank B. Anderson, Travis J. Anderson, James C. Hancock, Wayne Whitehead and Larry Jason Nevil. Honorary pallbearers include Rusk Masonic Lodge members and friends at Texas Department of Corrections.

Memorials may be given to the Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church or Heart to Heart Hospice of Tyler.
