Chili cookoff slated April 19 to benefit Crisis Center

Crisis Center of Anderson and Cherokee Counties first ever Rubber Duckie Chili cookoff is scheduled for Saturday, April 19, at Lake Jacksonville Concession area. Proceeds from this event directly benefit abused women and children.

The chili cook-off will be affiliated with CASI-Chili Appreciation Society International. Its mission is to "Cook Chili for Charity."

Events scheduled in the cook-off include CASI Chili competition, CASI Showmanship and People's Choice Award. Chili cook-off will open at 11 a.m. at concession area on Lake Jacksonville.

Admission is $3 and includes a tasting cup, spoon and ballots for the much coveted People's Choice Award. Entry fee for chili cooking is $20. Turn in time is 1 p.m. for CASI Chili and Showmanship will run from 11 a.m. to noon.

People's Choice judging by the public for chili will end at 2 p.m.

Registration for cooks is from 8 to 10 a.m. Chili cook-off is open to anyone who wishes to cook.
