Mary Madden named Valentine sweetheart; new officers elected

The Texas Beta Omega Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met Feb. 18 at the Legend of Harvey Collins Restaurant with eight members present.

Mary Madden was chosen Valentine sweetheart. She was crowned and presented with a serving tray. Jimmye Watson was surprised with a birthday gift from her secret sister.

The Chapter met March 4 in the home of Rona Long with Jimmye Watson serving as co-hostess. Seven members were present. After a session of business, Mrs. Long read a short story, titled, "Waste-O-Matic" from the book Due South by R. Scott Brenner.

Opal Fitts was hostess for the March 18 meeting. Genelle Richards served as co-hostess. Mrs. Long announced that the programs for the Founder's Day banquet were ready.

New officers for the coming year were elected. They are Jimmye Watson, president; Sarah Summers, vice-president; Mary element. Hassell, corresponding secretary; Mary Madden, recording secretary; Rona Long, treasurer; Melba Darrow, extension officer; and Jimmye Watson and Melba Darrow, city council representatives.

Mrs. Richards gave the program by reading from the book, "Where the Sidewalk Ends" by Shel Silverstein. She read a poem, "Sister for Sale."
