March 31 is deadline to apply Scholarship applications for The Citizens 1st Bank/ Perkins Family Foundation Scholarship must be delivered or post-marked by March 31. The Citizens 1st Bank/ Perkins Family Foundation Scholarship Fund provides educational scholarships for children of state employees in Smith, Nacogdoches and Cherokee counties. Citizens 1st Bank and the Perkins Family Foundation increased their scholarship fund at the East Texas Communities Foundation this year. By increasing the scholarship fund endowment, they will be able to award an additional $1,000 scholarship. This will increase the grants to a total of six $1,000 scholarships for deserving and hard-working East Texas students. Students are encouraged to apply now. The scholarship is open to graduating seniors and college students under the age of 21. The scholarships are based on merit, and are selected by a volunteer committee based in East Texas.
